Announcing the Winners of the International Oil Palm Trunk Product Design Competition 2025
After an incredible grand final, where ten teams from Indonesia and Malaysia pitched their groundbreaking ideas on sustainable oil palm trunk waste utilization to an esteemed jury panel, the winners of the competition were officially announced during the SustainPalm closing event, held in Bogor on 2 September 2025. The level of creativity, innovation, and dedication was truly inspiring! ✨

The 1st prize goes to SHEnergy from IPB University, with their idea TrunkTone: a value-added solution for the green acoustic panel using empty fruit bunch and oil palm trunk by-products, absorbing noise pollution across a wide range of frequencies.

The 2nd prize goes to ECOTRUNK.MY from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia introducing a hands-on educational stem kit made from recycled oil palm trunk waste, offering children a fun and interactive way to explore the science behind oil palm trunks and discover how they can be transformed into valuable by-products.

Each winning team is awarded prize money and honourable mention on academic and SustainPalm social media, as well as display during the SustainPalm closing event in Bogor, attended by a diverse international audience.
